People Ask When I Knew I Wanted to Write
I am often asked when I knew I wanted to be a writer/author. My first positive experience in writing was my freshman year of high school when I won $15 in a writing contest at school. That was in 1957, so $15 went a little further then. I didn’t begin writing books until I had retired at age 68. My first idea for a book blossomed into the Pastor Elle series because different folks would tease me that I only worked one day a week (Sunday) because I was a pastor. The series shows Pastor Elle having all sorts of tasks throughout the week. Whether those folks who teased me ever read the Pastor Elle series, I do not know. I knew they were kidding, but it was fun to show the difference.
